MicroMass Execs Participate in Agency Pie Throwing Event to Raise Money for Cancer Research
CARY, N.C., September 10, 2007 — On Sept. 4, the executive leadership team of MicroMass Communications, including its president Jay Bigelow, were subject to employee jeers as they graciously participated in an agency-wide pie throwing event to raise money to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
To raise money, employees purchased tickets for a cream pie to be thrown at an executive leadership team member of choice. “It took a few brave souls to step up to bat first,” said Stephanie Ostreng, MicroMass senior behaviorist and captain of the agency’s Light the Night Team. “But soon after, the group really got into the event. And the execs were really great sports. I think everyone had a lot of fun.”
To raise additional funds, the agency’s Light the Night team also hosted an employee bake sale and raffle with prizes from local companies including Skin Sense, Sweet Tomatoes Restaurant, Triangle Pilates & Cary Yoga Center, Hibernian Pub and Calvert Café. The event raised $816.00, which contributed to the agency’s total of $4,486.00.
On Saturday, Sept. 8, members of the MicroMass team participated in the Greater Raleigh Light the Night Walk benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This is the agency’s second year participating in this area event.
“Many of us at MicroMass have been touched by the lives of patients with blood and other cancers and are passionate about being part of the mission to find a cure,” noted Ostreng. “We are not only dedicated as individuals, but as a company to raise awareness of health conditions like cancer that impact people’s longevity and quality of life.” The annual Light the Night Walk builds awareness and raises funds for the cure of blood cancers.
