HandSurgeryNews.com, a Web site that provides surgeons, orthopedists, and plastic surgeons with the latest news in hand-related conditions, received a Silver Award in the Web Health Awards 2009 spring/summer program.

The Web Health Awards is a program that recognizes the best Web-based health-related content for consumers and professionals - with the goal of providing a "seal of quality" for electronic health information. A panel of international health information and internet experts judge entries based on accuracy, success in reaching the targeted audience and overall quality.

The program is organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials. This Web-based health awards is an extension of the HIRC's 16-year old National Health Information Awards (NHIA), the largest program of its kind in the United States.
