Cary, N.C. and Morristown, N.J., Nov 1, 2009 - MicroMass Communications, Inc., a world leader in behavioral science-based marketing, has continued a streak of award wins by taking home a bronze award in the 2009 International ECHO Awards competition and a silver in the Web Health Awards.
MicroMass received the ECHO Award for its A.I.R. Program (Asthma Information Resources), a patient-education and adherence campaign created for Merck. Developed around behavioral insights into why many patients discontinue asthma therapy, the campaign uses personalized communications to educate patients about asthma, its treatment, and the importance of using medications as prescribed.
Sponsored by the Direct Marketing Association, the International ECHO Awards honor the world's best multichannel direct marketing campaigns, evaluated by strategy, creative execution and results. MicroMass received one of only two awards in the pharmaceuticals and healthcare category (and was the only U.S. winner), competing against programs by drug and biotech companies, government health initiatives, healthcare institutions, and providers of various health-related products and services. Winners were announced on Oct. 20 at a gala awards ceremony in San Diego hosted by TV personality Jay Leno.
Earlier in October, MicroMass was recognized for its work in the digital space, winning silver in the Web Health Awards (formerly the World Wide Web Health Awards), a competition honoring the best Web-based health content for consumers and professionals. The agency won for HandSurgeryNews.com, a Web site created for Auxilium Pharmaceuticals as a resource for providing hand surgeons with the latest news and information about all aspects of hand surgery.
The Web Health Awards, held twice yearly, are sponsored by the Health Information Resource Center with the goal of providing a "seal of quality" for electronic health information. Entries are judged on accuracy, how well health information is conveyed to target audiences, and overall quality and effectiveness.
