Jay Bigelow Named to PharmaVOICE List of 100 Most Inspiring and Influential Leaders in the Life Sciences Industry
Cary, N.C., July 31, 2008 - Jay Bigelow, president of MicroMass Communications, Inc., a leader in behavioral science-based relationship marketing, has been selected by PharmaVOICE magazine as one of the 100 most inspiring and influential people in the life sciences industry.
The honor was announced in the July/August issue of PharmaVOICE, which annually pays tribute to top leaders in all areas of the pharmaceutical industry. Candidates were nominated by peers, then evaluated by a panel of PharmaVOICE editors on the basis of their demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate and influence corporate leadership, research and development, technology, creativity, marketing and strategy in the life sciences industry. Nominees were also evaluated on their commitment and service to their employees, companies and communities.
"Jay Bigelow has been one of the driving forces in applying behavioral science to the way pharma develops relationships with patients and professionals," the PharmaVOICE editors noted, describing Bigelow as a "behavior guru" and the thought leader behind a "new paradigm in marketing."
MicroMass developed the first patient-support program to demonstrate that the application of proven behavioral science models, coupled with personalized communications via mass media channels, could change attitudes and behavior in measurable ways for positive health outcomes. This seminal program, launched in 1996, laid the foundation for the dramatic transformation of MicroMass from a small technology company to a leader in healthcare relationship marketing.
The editors also cited Bigelow's commitment to others as a reason for his selection to the PharmaVOICE 100. "He spurs the company to reach for higher ideas and insights to enable pharma clients to help their patients achieve a healthier quality of life," they wrote, adding that he also fosters professional growth and development among his colleagues, championing courage, honesty and integrity.
"Being named to the PharmaVOICE 100 is a big honor, and I'm humbled and thankful to everyone who thought me worthy of it and everyone whose talent, passion and achievements have made my own successes possible," Bigelow said. "There are some exceptionally visionary people working in the life sciences, and, to paraphrase Sir Isaac Newton, anytime I've been able to see farther than others, it was because I was standing on the shoulders of giants."
