Cary, N.C., May 15, 2009 - MicroMass Communications, Inc., a leader in behavioral science-based relationship marketing in the healthcare industry, has appointed John Hamilton to the position of vice president, group account director. With more than a decade of relationship marketing and brand development experience, he will spearhead the agency's oncology business and will report to Jay Bigelow, president.
A seasoned veteran, Hamilton has experience in both traditional and interactive marketing, on both consumer and professional sides. In addition to a proven track record in patient relationship marketing, he brings an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of therapeutic categories, including allergy, neurology, cardiovascular, asthma, women's health, gastroenterology and rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
"John's leadership abilities and wide-ranging experience-including work in patient relationship marketing- will be a major asset to our clients," Bigelow said, adding that Hamilton has demonstrated success in applying the principles of behavioral science to programs that support healthcare brands.
Hamilton joins MicroMass from G2, a global marketing communications agency in New York City, where held the position of group account director. During his five-year tenure there, his work on several campaigns-all grounded in consumer insights, marketing data and competitive analysis-garnered several pharmaceutical marketing awards. .
Before that, he was a group account supervisor at Saatchi & Saatchi in New York City, working on a product for RA. For the previous four years, he served as associate account director in the Washington, DC office of RTC Relationship Marketing, a full-service relationship marketing agency with offices in Washington, DC and New York City. Focusing on patient relationship marketing programs, he helped identify attitudes and beliefs preventing uptake and compliance, helping build awareness and overcome negative attitudes of men with erectile dysfunction as well as patients with high cholesterol and diabetes.
Hamilton began his career as communications manager in the Alexandria, Va. office of Parexel International, a leading global biopharmaceutical services organization headquartered near Boston, Mass. There he developed consumer and professional clinical trial recruitment campaigns for global Phase II and III clinical trials.
Hamilton holds an MBA from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business in College Park, Md. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. He lives in Cary, N.C.
