Cary, N.C., July 30, 2010 - PharmaVoice Magazine has named Jamie Cobb, Executive Creative Director of MicroMass Communications, as one of its 100 most inspiring and influential people in the life sciences industry.
The announcement came in the July/August issue of PharmaVOICE in its annual recognition of the 100 most persuasive, passionate and inspiring voices in the pharmaceutical industry. Candidates were nominated by their peers and those nominations were evaluated by PharmaVOICE editors.
The editors looked for the nominee's ability to inspire and motivate others to work at the top of their professional abilities and the strength of the nominee's influence on leadership, R&D, technology, creativity, marketing and strategy. A strong commitment to colleagues, companies and communities was also a consideration in the choice of the most inspiring 100.
One of Mr. Cobb's most compelling qualities, according to the editors, "is his ability to bring out the very best in those around him and to inspire greatness beyond what was ever considered possible."
MicroMass Creative Director, Dean Logan, agreed. "What I continue to discover about working with Jamie is, no matter where you are in your thought process, he is 50 yards ahead of you and can see the next 100. His ability to see an idea through to what it could be, all the way to what it should be, is profound. And more than a little humbling. If you're going to show an idea to Jamie, you better damn well have thought it through. The bar is that high."
Beyond his commitment to the industry, Jamie also walks the walk for his community. He brought the MicroMass application of behavioral science to a creative campaign for The Healing Place, a program that works to bring the homeless in off the street so they can find purpose through work and study.
"MicroMass took the time to understand who we are, what we do and the DNA of our organization," said Barrett Joyner, the Development Director of The Healing Place. "They then translated that understanding into a creative execution that far exceeded our expectations."
Mr. Cobb is also an adjunct professor of advertising at his alma mater, UNC-Chapel Hill, teaching a new generation how to connect consumers with brands in deeper, more meaningful ways.
Mr. Cobb's earlier work in oncology set a new standard in that field of pharmaceutical marketing and he continues to bring that level of dedication and creative energy to every project at MicroMass. He credits mentor Bruce Rook of GSW with teaching him to respect the value and the power of "big, hairy ideas."
"Jamie has high standards for himself and everyone around him," said MicroMass President, Jay Bigelow. "It is sometimes a daunting challenge to live up to such high expectations, but in the end, the outcome is always worth the effort - for our clients, for our employees and especially for the patients and healthcare professionals our work helps. It is wonderful to see Jamie get the recognition he deserves for helping make all of us better."
