Remodeling the Dialogue
MicroMass addressed the gap in the pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) therapy conversation between patients and their providers.
Audience
PAH specialists and patients.
Challenge
Increase patient receptivity to infused therapy. Patients need a clear picture of how the therapy works and what is expected day to day. Providers explain therapy with technical language that confuses and scares patients.
Solution
Develop an initiative led by key opinion leaders that is founded on established behavior change principles to help physicians engage in more effective patient-centered conversations. This initiative helps physicians recognize opportunities to improve the conversations and build skills to apply behavior change techniques. These skills result in more effective discussions about treatment with patients. In-office tools facilitate productive conversations by guiding the provider through the application of learned skills.

What's our approach?
MicroMass behavioral experts worked with an opinion leader to develop a framework for optimal PAH dialogue.

What's the impact?
Providers received tools and resources, including observational learning exercises with examples of optimal and suboptimal dialogue.
