Today, on World Food Day, MicroMass committees are taking action against hunger with a canned food drive supporting our local food bank and teaching the staff how to sustainably grow food at home with hydroponics.⁣

Food Bank Support

According to the Food Bank, the projected number of food-insecure people in the 34 counties they serve is now more than 756,000, with 253,000 being children. That’s approximately a 38% increase due to the pandemic. This week, we can help our neighbors through giving.

Hydroponics hydroponic gardening is method of growing plants without soil. In hydroponic gardening, the water does the work—in this case, the work of delivering nutrients to the plant roots. In order to grow, plants need water, sunlight, carbon dioxide (usually from air circulation), and nutrients.
